Survey results from the 2008 Festival showed attendees were pleased with the event and intend to return in 2009. Those who responded reported:
• a high interest in sports and fitness;
• aerobics, weight training and walking were the most common activities;
• more than half also said they usually spend 45-60 minutes each time they exercise; and,
• most engaged in sports or fitness activities 3 to 6 days a week.

Deborah Redder, creator of the nationally recognized SilverSneakers Group Exercise Program led a low impact kick-off exercise routine with some local VIPs. Her program provides insurance-sponsored fitness center memberships and group exercise classes to Medicare eligible adults. SilverSneakers stresses the value of exercise as it relates to prevention as the "best medicine."
